Founder Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya Dr. Rajan Chopra met the president of India Droupadi Murmu to extend his heart-felt wishes on her historic triumph!
Draupadi Murmu became the 15th President of India in a historic win that has seen a politician from an indigenous community taking the country’s highest elective office for the first time. She is the first President to be born after independence and the youngest to occupy the post. She is also the second woman to become the President of India.
Dr. Rajan Chopra said stressing on the fact that she is a tribal woman is not enough to describe her abilities and justify the respect and position that she has achieved. He said she carries immense strength the courage she displayed during her life struggling through the battles of life while losing three key members of her family are highly commendable and she has shown exemplary bravery for the society, especially women of the nation.
“We are confident that with Murmu becoming 15th President of India, all-around development of the tribal community and women will touch newer and greater heights while restoring the rich tribal identity and will accelerate the overall development of the tribal community under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s government”, Dr.Chopra added.
